London Theatre Program
Overview:
The London Theatre Program provides a rigorous and exciting
challenge for young actors within a highly supportive and creative environment.
Dilligence, good ensemble membership, a love of language and disciplined
textual work are the starting points; alongside which we encourage and
empower you to make bold, dynamic choices as actors; to trust your instincts
and give them free reign; above all to exercize your imaginations energetically
and realise your full potential in classes and productions that are
both demanding and fulfilling.
Ian Wooldridge Dean

The London Theatre
Program is designed for dedicated students who are passionate about
their work and serious about acting. Students may enroll in the program
in either the Fall or Spring semester. Those wishing to pursue their
training more intensely are strongly encouraged to begin their training
in the Fall and continue with the Advanced London Theatre Program in
the Spring semester.
Both programs offer acting classes with leading artists from the British
stage. These are complemented by individual tutorials where students
work one on one with their teachers.
A faculty selected from Britain's foremost drama schools teaches technical
classes in Voice, Movement and Stage Fighting. In addition master classes
and workshops feature Britain's finest actors and directors.
The intense conservatory training is accompanied by classes in theatre
history and dramatic criticism. Students go to see a wide range of high
quality theatre currently playing in London and Stratford-upon-Avon.
The course climaxes with students performing full productions of British
and European classical plays in a professional London Theatre.
The London Theatre Program is accredited
by Sarah
Lawrence College
Sarah Lawrence College is a small liberal arts college for men and women.
The college is nationally renowned for its unique academic structure
which combines small seminar classes with individual student-faculty
conferences, and for its programs in the performing arts. (Sarah Lawrence
was one of the first American colleges to include the performing and
creative arts within a liberal arts curriculum). Sarah Lawrence also
offers programs for undergraduates in Paris, Oxford, and Florence. The
College's affiliation with BADA began in 1986.
Accreditation, Fees and Financial Aid:
Students receive a full semester of Sarah Lawrence College academic
credit (15 credits) for each semester of the program, or 30 credits
for the full year.
Tuition charges are the same as for Sarah Lawrence College. Sarah Lawrence
students who normally receive aid may apply their awards to the London
Theatre Program.
Non-Sarah Lawrence students may, in many cases, be able to apply financial
aid they are currently receiving to the cost of the program. The Office
of Financial Aid, as well as the Study Abroad Office at your home institution,
can provide information about grants, loans and procedures for applying.
The tuition charge for the 2007-08 program is $18,615 per semester.
The tuition charge includes all scheduled trips and excursions, special
events, tickets and library fees. Students are responsible for their
own travel costs to and from London. The charge for room is $4,400 per
semester.
