Welcome

The British American Drama Academy (BADA) was founded in 1983 to enable students from around the world to study classical theatre with leading actors and directors of the British stage.

BADA's programs are integrated into the US educational system so that American students can study with us and, at the same time, receive full academic credit and financial aid. BADA runs two semester-long courses for college students (the London Theatre Program and the Shakespeare Programme) and two one-month summer programs (Midsummer in Oxford and the Midsummer Conservatory Program), which are open to all applicants.

A special feature of BADA's programs is its very distinguished faculty which includes many of Britain's leading actors and directors. These have included Sir John Gielgud, Dame Peggy Ashcroft, Sir Ben Kingsley, Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, Jeremy Irons, Brian Cox, John Barton, Deborah Warner, Simon Callow, Kevin Spacey, Mark Wing-Davey and Sir Derek Jacobi, among others.

“I have been associated with BADA ever since it began organising courses in British classical theatre for students overseas. In my opinion, it offers the most wonderful opportunity for students to take part in this country’s great theatrical tradition.”
- Sir Derek Jacobi
