Faculty
BADA is unique among drama schools in that its faculty is drawn entirely
from the professional theatre world.
It is our belief that students can most effectively learn from working
with successful practitioners of the craft they are studying. All acting
classes are taught by leading actors and directors of the British stage,
productions are mounted by professional directors, drama criticism is
taught by leading critics and producers, and so on. The effect is to
dissolve the wall between the professional and the conservatory world
in order to give the student a very real sense of what it is to work
in the theatre, as well as to encourage the student to stretch to his
or her utmost limits.
This philosophy is very much in keeping with the British theatrical
tradition of passing the tools of its crafts from one generation to
the next. Just as Sir John Gielgud and Dame Peggy Ashcroft, two legends
of the British theatre, taught the first master classes at BADA many
years ago, so too do many of the distinguished men and women who have
followed in their footsteps pass the baton on to you.
