Applications for BADA's Midsummer Conservatory Program are audition-based.
To participate in the program you must have turned sixteen before July, 2014 . BADA can make no exceptions to this rule.
Fees The fees for MCP 2014 are US$2,970 for tuition and US$2,580 for accommodation (including breakfast, lunch and dinner Mondays-Fridays at Wadham College)
BADA suggests that if you are offered a place on the program, you should then seriously consider the benefits of taking out a fee protection scheme. While BADA considers requests for refunds for withdrawals on a case-by-case basis, in conjunction with its refund policy (made available at time of acceptance), it may be that any such refund would be by necessity limited. If for any reason you cannot start or complete the course, insurance would alleviate if not eliminate your financial loss.
Application Procedures The application process comprises of an online submission and an audition. Applications for the 2014 Program are now closed.
If you are under 18 you may apply for an audition only with the involvement of a parent of guardian.
The audition is comprised of a brief Shakespeare monologue (2 minutes or less), a contrasting contemporary monologue (also 2 minutes or less) and the cold reading of a Shakespeare sonnet.
The applicant is expected to audition in person but in some cases auditions may be recorded. Applicants wishing to audition in person must choose a location on the application form and will be contacted in reference to scheduling an appointment. A list of audition locations is available in the News section of this website. Applicants wishing to submit a recorded audition must indicate this preference on the application form and will be contacted with further instructions on recording and submissions.
Applications If you are under 18 you may only apply with the involvement of a parent or guardian. The online application includes a $40 USD non-refundable application fee to be paid by debit or credit card.
Applicants will be notified of their audition location and date as soon as possible after their application has been received.
Acceptance Terms Students will be notified within four weeks of their audition whether or not they have been accepted. On acceptance, in order to hold their place, applicants will need to pay a non-refundable deposit of $500, which is deductible from the fees payable.
Financial Assistance BADA is a not-for-profit organisation committed to attracting as broad a range of students as possible and so encourages students to apply for financial aid. Major scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional talent at their audition and require financial assistance. In addition to our highly competitive major scholarships, a number of smaller awards are available to those individuals not chosen for major funding. Unfortunately BADA is not in the position to assist in the retention of outside grant or loan assistance. To apply for an award from BADA's scholarship fund complete the relevant part of the application form.
